About me

I am a recently-qualified journalist and freelance translator and copywriter based in Wimbledon. I recently gained my NCTJ Diploma in Newspaper Journalism from News Associates and am currently interning at PoliticsHome. I graduated from the University of York last July, where I gained a first class degree in English and Related Literature.
I have seven years of extensive experience across a range of media, including local and national newspapers, such as The Guardian and The Surrey Comet, campus publications and magazines covering sections from news to music and comment. I have also appeared on request on BBC Radio 4 and Young Voters’ Question Time.
My main interests are currently civil unrest, the economy, international politics and feminism.

P.S. I do not eat crack pies in my room. Apparently another Lizzie Dearden does, according to the Facebook group ‘Lizzie Dearden eats crack pies in her room,’ but it definitely isn’t me. Unfortunately, it comes up in Facebook and Google searches of my name. I emailed the other Lizzie Dearden (a bizarre experience) to ask her to change the name or make it private but I haven’t yet had a reply.
